TYPES OF
HAZARD/
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible. Many reactions may cause fire or explosion. See Notes.
NO open flames.
Water in large amounts.
EXPLOSION Risk of fire and explosion.
Do NOT expose to friction or shock.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST!

  • INHALATION
  • Cough. Sore throat.
    Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • Redness. Yellow skin.
    Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
  • Redness. Pain. Yellow vision.
    Safety goggles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
  • Headache. Dizziness. Nausea. Vomiting. Diarrhoea.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: P3 filter respirator for toxic particles).
Fireproof. Separated from strong oxidants, metals and reducing substances.
    Special material.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
    YELLOW CRYSTALS WITH NO ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
May explosively decompose on shock, friction, or concussion. May explode on heating. Shock-sensitive compounds are formed with metals, particularly copper, lead, mercury and zinc. On combustion, forms toxic carbon and nitrogen oxides. Reacts vigorously with oxidants and reducing materials.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
TLV: ppm; 0.1 mg/m3 (as TWA) (ACGIH 1997).
    MAK: ppm; 0.1 mg/m3 I; H (1996).

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20░C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis. Skin and hair may be stained yellow.

    ENVIRONMENTAL
    DATA

    N O T E S
For safety transportation, 10-20% water is usually added. In normal conditions: combustible; if oxidized may become explosive. Do NOT take working clothes home. Rinse contaminated clothes (fire hazard) with plenty of water.
    Transport Emergency Card: TEC (R)-41G19
Other UN number is 1344, with not less than 30% water by mass, hazard class 4.1, packing group I.
